Internship Competency List ACE students will be provided with a 300 hours internship at an internship site. The internship will include practical experience in LAN & WAN Administrator competencies as listed below. Students will have received classroom instruction from ACE before being assigned to the site. LAN & WAN Administrator Troubleshoots computer Hardware and Software issues Install hardware devices in computer Install device drivers for hardware installed Install Windows /XP Professional Operating System Software. Sets up cable connection for a computer Network Designs Physical and Logical Network Layout Install, Configure and Administrator Windows 2008 network Segmenting Networks with Switches, Hubs and Routers Implementing permissions for files and folders through NTFS Creating, maintaining and configuring users, groups and GPO’s though Active Directory Installing and Implementing network services such as DNS, WINS, DHCP and RRAS Design, implement and maintain Network infrastructure & Active Directory infrastructure Design and implement network security-using Check Point Design and maintain WAN using CISCO routers Troubleshoot inter-networking problems Design & Implement Frame Relay/X.25 Network Design & Implement scalable WAN network using OSPF/EIGRP/BGP protocol Design & Implement ISDN network as backup for a frame relay environment Design & Implement fault tolerant network by using HSRP protocol Using Microsoft Project for project management and tracking.
